The IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is here. After nine years, the Czech Republic, specifically Prague and Ostrava, will once again host this important event. For those fans who will be driving to the event, we have parking tips.

First of all, motorists must accept that all streets around the O2 Arena will be closed during the ice hockey championship. The municipal police will only allow entry to residents and drivers heading to the parking lot of the Galerie Harfa shopping centre.
Shopping centre parking can pay off
This is our first tip. If you want to get straight to the hall, and you're not worried about possible traffic jams on the way through Prague, parking at the Galerie Harfa may make sense for you. If you park in this popular shopping centre, you should take into account that only the first two hours will be free. For each additional hour you will have to pay 100 crowns (4 euros).
However, motorists can avoid this parking fee if they make at least 700 crowns (28 euros) worth of purchases in one of the shops. With the receipt, they then head to the info kiosk or the Customer Service Centre, where they receive a special parking permit for one day completely free of charge.
P+R Černý Most is also worth consideration
Given that, according to authorities, there is a risk of traffic collapse in the vicinity of the arena during major matches, motorists are offered other options a little further away from the stadium where they can park during the World Hockey Championship in Prague. For example, the P+R Černý Most, which is located just 5 metro stops away from the hockey stadium, is worth mentioning. Moreover, the car park has a capacity of almost a thousand.
Parking for free
If the P+R Černý Most car park is full, you can also park in the Černý Most shopping centre or in IKEA. If you manage to park specifically in the IKEA centre, you can even save money on parking, as the centre's management does not currently charge any money for parking.
The situation is different in the case of the Černý Most shopping centre. A few months ago, parking there was free for all drivers, but the mall management decided to change that. Currently, only the first four hours are free. But it will probably be enough for one hockey match.
